Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actor. She sings as well. Raised by her mother within the USA she faced numerous racial insults that made her feel being unwelcome. In her 9th grade when she began to gain confidence after receiving a rousing ovation during an audition. Not only did it boost her confidence but her ambitions transformed. When she was 22, she graduated from New York's Julliard School. In 1993, she had her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. However her greatest breakthrough came when she appeared in the character in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the very first Broadway production of Spamalot winning not just the Tony Award for her performance as well as a lot of critical praise. Her fame grew for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. An accomplished singer, she's also produced one single and an extended work. In her role as an activist, she is a tireless advocate for LGBT equality.
